Yesterday I ran the Great Aloha Run. The Great Aloha Run is an 8.15 mile course that starts at Aloha Tower in downtown Honolulu and ends in Aloha Stadium near Pearl Harbor. About 17,000 people including military units from all branches participated in this run.

This was my first time attempting to run this far as the farthest I ever ran without stopping was about 4 miles. I would usually run 2-3 miles daily but I think I should train for at least 5 miles daily.
I ran this course with my girlfriend and it was her first time too. We came in at exactly 1 hour and 40 minutes which is not bad at all. I would of came in a faster time if my girlfriend did not walk a lot but I told her I would stick with her and finish with her so I did a steady jog every time she decided to walk. The fastest time was about 42 minutes! That’s hauling ass!
Since this is my first time ever going this kind of distance and I decided to splurge on my low fat/calorie diet. We went out and I bought the fattiest BBQ Burger ever! Not only that, I had desert. It was good!
Unfortunately, I am in pain today. The upper parts of my legs, including the quads and the hamstrings hurt like hell but it was worth it for the experience, my health and the quality time with my girlfriend. I will do this run again next year and defiantly help train my girlfriend so we can go at a faster pace!
Here are some pictures that I took with my blackberry, quality sucks but I did not want to run with a regular camera:
