So, what did I plan for my girlfriend on Valentines Day?  Instead of going out, I cooked dinner for her!  I did not plan to go out because I know everywhere was going to be crazy and expensive.  It is not that I am a cheap ass, I just did not want to have a bad experience of waiting, waiters rushing us, and just the plain irritating things that goes on.

This year, I cooked for my girlfriend.  The menu was parmesan chicken with fettuccini noodles, spinach salad with a side of bread.  Since we don’t drink alcohol as much, we chose IBC cream soda.

Last night I finished up a print piece that was going into a competition.  I am not a print designer by all means so doing print work was probably my biggest headache this month!  I have a customized built PC; C2D processor with 2GB of RAM.  Its fine working for web projects, but for print, it was a nightmare!  It was times like these I wish I had a Mac.

I had to make a 20×30” motivational poster featuring my army unit’s “Espirt de Corps.”  Keep in mind I did not volunteer to do this, someone else volunteered me!  They knew I am a designer in my civilian career but what they didn’t know is that I don’t do print!  I mean, I do know some print stuff because of where I work but I don’t have extensive experience with it.  I pretty much had no choice since there was no one else available. read more…

When you think of “Hawaii,” what do you think of?  Sand, pineapples, beach, sun, hot…how about snow?

Well if you don’t know by now, it does snow here in Hawaii, but only in the high places!  It happens during the cold season, December to March.  It is not as extreme as how it is in the states or in other countries but it does get a bit chilly.

Here are some cool pictures of a snow capped Haleakala, or “House of the Sun,” on the island of Maui taken yesterday.I did not take those pictures as I am on the island of Oahu, but I wish I could have been up there at that time.  At 10,000+ ft, its cold up there no matter what season it is, I can only imagine how cold it is up there now.
